The deeper meaning of this archive is expressed in Giuliano Collina's own words, which form its statement of intent:
“If, in some way, the painted image is still part of the artist's craft in the future; if the painting of our time is collected, exhibited and preserved; and above all […] if my painting, the painting I have attempted every day of my life, has earned even a remote corner in the lives of my grandchildren, then I will have done well to provide for its preservation through an instrument foreseen by custom and by law: the creation of an archive documenting the progress and location of my works. I cannot deny a good dose of presumption in all this, but […] the creation of an archive can also serve to make old age a little less frightening.”
These words guide the structure of the management system we built: an archive that is not only technical but about identity, designed to safeguard his poetics and his work.
